I always quit. How do I keep going?

The short answer

Quitting usually means the plan was too big or too boring, not that you are lazy. Make the daily rep tiny (one sentence, five minutes), make it something you enjoy (a show, a song), and make progress visible. On bad days, do the smallest version instead of skipping.

You are not the only one

“I wanna learn Korean so bad but I can't keep myself motivated” is one of the most common things learners write to us. Even polyglots quit:

“And then I quit. Of course. It was hell of a boring thing. I couldn't take it.”Languy · from a recorded lesson

Make it impossible to fail

Make progress loud

Mark every small win: the first line you understood without subtitles, the first word you heard in a song. Those are real-life level-ups, and they are what keep people going.

“Mistakes are just XP points. That's all they are. You're not failing. You are earning.”Languy · from a recorded lesson

Questions people also ask

How do I stay motivated to learn a language?

Do not rely on motivation. Make the daily practice so small and so enjoyable that you do it on low-motivation days too, and keep a visible record of wins.

Is it bad to take a break from language learning?

A break is fine. Come back with the smallest possible rep, not with a plan to catch up.
