Know why you want it. A person you want to talk to, a place you're going, the version of you that speaks it. Write it down where you'll see it. On the hard weeks, the reason keeps you going — no method does that.

Mistakes are practice, not failure. Every wrong sentence is a rep at the gym. Nobody counts a baby's mistakes. Stop grading yourself and you'll go twice as fast.

Watch and listen to stuff you actually like. Shows, videos, music — in the language, just a little above your level. Understanding real things is how your brain learns. Speaking shows up later on its own.

Learn whole phrases, not word lists. Take real sentences from what you watch ("¿me traes la cuenta?") — your brain figures out the grammar from patterns, automatically. That's what it did with your first language.

A small set of words does most of the work. The few hundred most common words carry most conversations. Review them as sentences with Anki — free on desktop and Android, a one-time ~$25 on iPhone — a few minutes a day.

Watch the same scene twice. Once with subtitles, once without. Subtitles are a ladder — use them to climb, then take them away.

Have your first conversation before you feel ready. It will be wobbly. That's normal — that IS the first win, not the failure. Everyone who speaks 5 languages started with one shaky sentence.
